Die and mold industry sets 10th expo to mobilize the Philippine manufacturing industry towards global excellence

PDMA, Inc., the leading group in the tool and die industry will unveil new machineries and state-of-the-art technologies as it holds the 10th edition of PDMEX, the country's largest, focused, and solely recognized machinery exhibition.

Also known as the Philippine Die and Mold Machineries & Equipment Exhibition, the biennial event is set on August 23-26, 2023 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City, the first since the Covid-19 pandemic.

“PDMEX will bring together hundreds of exhibitors from several sub-sectors of the industry including metal stamping, plastics, rubber and packaging, die casting and forging, electronics and semiconductors tooling, technological resources, and machining and equipment fabrication. World-class machineries and equipment with highly advanced technologies will be showcased and demonstrated,” says PDMEX chairman Hector Villanueva Jr.

He added that the 4-day event will be a comprehensive platform to promote the modernization of the local die and mold industry, and provide a convergence point for the industry, the government, and the academe to consolidate efforts in mobilizing the national manufacturing industry towards global excellence.

Acknowledged as the backbone of vital industries including manufacturing, agriculture, electronics, automotive, aerospace, and construction, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) recognizes the die and mold industry's importance in the special economic zones that it governs.

L-R: PEZA Board Member Mr. Robert Lester Aranton, PDMA Inc, Trustee Mr. Jimmy Chan, PEZA Director General Tereso Panga, PDMA Inc. President Mr. George Ong, PDMA Trustees Mr. Ian Mabini, Mr. Lino Yu, and Mr. Tony Mangubat

“The inclusion of manufacturing zones, information technology centers, and agro-industrial economic zones in PEZA ecozones proves that the die and mold industry continues to be a crucial component in modernizing Philippine manufacturing to meet the demands of export standards,” Villanueva noted.

The Expo will also highlight the promising opportunities within the industry to encourage Filipinos and college students to pursue careers in the industry. A series of seminars and technical sessions presented by participating exhibitors Computrends, Backje Philippines, Guhring, LFK Corporation, and Teknologix are scheduled throughout the 4-day exhibition.

The first post-pandemic exhibition, PDMEX is incorporating several related industrial expos, such as the 8th Autocorp (Automation, Controls, Robotics, Accessories and Services), 8th Engineering and Outsourcing, the 10th Machinetools (Machine Tools Machineries, Equipment, Accessories, Products and Services), 7th Metfin (Metal Finishing Equipment, Tools, Accessories and Services), and 8th Metrology (Measuring Tools, Testing and Laboratory Equipment).

Other co-located events are the 7th Philplas (Plastics, Machinery, Equipment Tools, Accessories, Raw Materials, Products and Services) 7th Philweld (Welding Equipment Tools and Accessories, 10th Sheetmetal (Sheet Metal Machineries, Equipment, Accessories, Products and Services) and the first-ever Philippine Agri-Fisheries Machinery Expo.

PDMEX will also welcome international delegates from the Federation of Asian Die and Mould Associations (FADMA) which will hold their office bearer meeting during the event. Composed of nine die and mold associations representing China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Taipei, the Philippines, and Hong Kong respectively, FADMA is currently chaired by the Philippines through PDMA Past President Hector Villanueva Jr.

The Expo is presented in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology - Metals Industry Research and Development Center, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Exporters Confederation, Metalworking Industries Association of the Philippines, and the Hong Kong Mold and Die Council.
